#20: Because we are one, I am your complete sufficiency

So what is the secret to this life? What is the key?

I am. I am your everything. I am your complete sufficiency. I am the total life in you, through you.

This life is not me plus anything. It’s not me plus your effort, your discipline, your prayer life, your Bible study, your fellowship group, your ministry, or anything else you may rely on. Nor is this life me coming alongside you and helping you.

It’s just me. I am the life. I live my life in you.

You already have me. You can’t get more of me. You can’t get closer to me. You can’t do anything “spiritual” to get closer, or get more. You are complete, just as you are.

Nor are you hungering or thirsting for more. I have quenched your thirst. I have satisfied your hunger. You are full. That’s what I told you, remember? Just affirm it. “Lord, you have quenched my thirst. You have satisfied my hunger. I may not feel it, but you have filled my every need. You are my complete fulfillment.”

In his time, and in his way, the Spirit will confirm it in you. You affirm, you stand in faith, and the Spirit will confirm what is already true. You experience what already is by faith.

I am your supply. You died to trying to meet your needs on your own. You aren’t here to fend for yourself any longer. I am your eternal need-meeter. I have already supplied every provision for your life—spiritual, emotional, physical, material. I have provided for all your needs. How could it be otherwise? You and I are one. How could I let myself go unprovided for? I am the head; you are the body. Am I not going to provide for my own body?

I have, in fact, already supplied everything you need. I am enthroned, right now, in that area of need you have. I have allowed the need to appear for the purpose of supplying it. Faith sees the Supplier, who has already supplied the need. In me, all the Father’s promises to you are already “yes.”

I, living in you, am adequate for every situation. My overcoming life in you is adequate for every circumstance, no matter how it looks from an earthly perspective. You feel weak. You feel inadequate. You don’t feel wise enough. You don’t have the love you need. Of course you don’t! You’re not meant to. If I come to live in a vessel that is weak, I have to be the strength. If you lack wisdom, I have to be the wisdom. If you are inadequate, I have to be your adequacy. I have to be the love in you. I have to be the forgiveness in you. And I am. Always.

You live simply by the awareness of Another living in you. By complete dependence on Another. You recognize that all that you do is me doing it through you.

Not even your faith, your recognition, your awareness, comes through self-effort. It’s the work of my Spirit in you. You simply acknowledge the reality of who I am in you. You affirm. My Spirit confirms in you. Your role is to be willing. Your willingness is expressed as faith.

My Spirit governs you now. He leads you. You hear my voice. You are my sheep. You don’t have to work at hearing my voice. You do hear it. That’s what I told you. Rest in that.

See me—in you—with a single eye. I am the All in you. Don’t look at yourself and how you think you need to improve. You can’t make that happen anyway. Turn your attention completely to the one whom you contain, who lives through you. I am your complete sufficiency. I always will be.

I’ve said all of this before:

… Christ is all, and in all. (Colossians 3:11)

And my God will supply all your needs according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus. (Philippians 4:19)

… His divine power has granted to us everything pertaining to life and godliness … (2 Peter 1:3)

But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, so that the surpassing greatness of the power will be of God and not from ourselves. (2 Corinthians 4:7)

“I am the bread of life; he who comes to Me will not hunger, and he who believes in Me will never thirst.” (John 6:35)

But by His doing you are in Christ Jesus, who became to us wisdom from God, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption … (1 Corinthians 1:30)

And He has said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for power is perfected in weakness.” Most gladly, therefore, I will rather boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may dwell in me. Therefore I am well content with weaknesses, with insults, with distresses, with persecutions, with difficulties, for Christ’s sake; for when I am weak, then I am strong. (2 Corinthians 12:9-10)

For as many as are the promises of God, in [Christ] they are yes … (2 Corinthians 1:20)

“My sheep hear My voice …” (John 10:27a)

For all who are being led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God. (Romans 8:14)
